Is Pastel saying you have a problem with your accuser.dat file? Something like a status 81 error or runtime error 380 : Setup Customer Documents
Most likely your accuser.dat file is corrupt.
What is accuser.dat?
It stores your user accounts/profiles and passwords as well as document numbers.
Possible Solutions/Fixes
Before you do anything, backup!
Rebuild
You can use the rebuild utility to attempt a fix of the issue.
If this fixes your problem, count your lucky stars.
Restore accuser.dat from a backup
This is one way to fix the issue, each way gives you a different load of work to do afterwards. So read and decide which to follow.
Consequences
- You need to check that the document numbers are still in sequence, Setup>Company parameters
- You need to check and possibly reset the period, Setup>Periods
Replace accuser.dat with accuser.eng
Consequences
- You need to recreate all the users and passwords, this can be done via Setup>Users/passwords
- You need to check and correct the document numbers, Setup>Company parameters
- You need to check and possibly reset the period, Setup>Periods
Go to your Pastel folder, e.g. C:\Pastel14\Custom\Language
Copy accuser.eng to your company directory
Rename your current accuser.dat to accuser.old
Then rename accuser.eng to accuser.dat
You can now boot into Pastel, you will need to recreate your user accounts/profiles.
If this error occurs on any version higher that Pastel 2004 then this would be a datafix
