Samsung Smart Switch & Kies installation issue

Struggling to get Samsung Smart Switch or Samsung Kies to install to Windows 10 with an error saying error “The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log for more detail.”.

Uninstall all previous versions of Kies and uninstall Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package from Programs and Features, then reboot your PC.

Download the correct version for your device from http://www.samsung.com/za/support/usefulsoftware/KIES/

Fix Samsung Kies mfc90u.dll error by downloading and then installing Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86)

  1. FIX?

Software developers in Samsung should probably think of a way to make their software work on any computer.

I have plenty of applications that require newer all 2017 MVC packages I have installed. But in order to use my PC to back-up my phone, I have to uninstall needed software.

How can anyone appriciate such “workaround” as a final fix?

  2. Same error but do not have kies or MVC 2008 installed. I do have MVC 2013 and 2015 installed. Do I have in uninstall all MVC versions or is it just 2008 that Samsung has a conflict with?

  3. Same error. I never had MVC 2008 installed but i did have 2013 and 2015. I uninstalled both and restarted but I still have the same error.
