Note: If you already have an XPS Port available, perform the following steps:
- In Win 7 click Start and select Devices and Printers or in Win 10 search for Devices and Printers
- Click Add a Printer and click The printer that I want isn’t listed
- Click Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings
- Select Use an existing port and browse for XPS Port and then click Next [no XPS Port follow the instructions below]
- In the manufacturer list, choose Microsoft
- On the right side, choose the latest version of the XPS document writer and click Next
- Choose the driver currently installed, click Next, and click Finish
Note: If the XPS Port is not available, perform the following steps:
- In Win 7 click Start and select Devices and Printers or in Win 10 search for Printers and Scanners
- Click Add a Printer and click The printer that I want isn’t listed
- Click Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings
- Select Create a new port
- Select Local Port, then click Next
- In the Enter a Port Name field, type in XPS Port, then click OK
- In the manufacturer list, choose Microsoft
- On the right side, choose the latest version of the XPS Document Writer, then click Next
- Select Use the Driver that is Currently Installed Click Next
- Printer name should be Microsoft XPS Document Writer, then click Next
- Select the option Do Not Share Printer, then click Next
- Uncheck the box for Set As Default Printer, then click Finish
If you did the above and it didn’t work try the following
- Download a copy of the Microsoft XPS Document Writer driver here
- Extract it to a known location
- Open Print Management by searching for Print Management
- Delete the Microsoft XPS Document Writer by right-cling and selecting Delete
- Add a new printer by right-clicking in white space below the printers and choosing Add Printer, choose Create a new port and add a new printer and select Local Port, name the port XPS, choose Install a new driver, click Have Disk and browse to the location of the downloaded Microsoft XPS Document Writer driver and select prnms001.inf, make the printer name is Microsoft XPS Document Writer, with no additional characters, click Next and the printer should be added
- After adding that back in, get back into QuickBooks and try creating a PDF
