What it does
Reliability Monitor gives your computer a stability index that ranges from 1 (the least stable) to 10 (the most stable).
It takes into account:
- Software uninstall issues
- Application failures
- Windows failures
- Miscellaneous failures
- Warnings
- Information
This can certainly help you identify what is causing your computer problems for any particular event.
How to Access Windows Reliability Monitor
Windows 8/8.1
- In search type reliability and then click View reliability history
- Open the Run box and type in perfmon /rel and hit enter
- Go to Control Panel select System & Security then Action Center and under Maintenance you will find View reliability history
Windows 7
- Open Action Center by clicking the Start button
, clicking Control Panel, and then, under System and Security, under Action Center click Review your computer’s status, Click Maintenance, then, under ‘Check for solutions to problem reports’, click View reliability history
- Click Start and type in perfmon /rel in the ‘Search programs and files’ box and hit enter
How to use
In Reliability Monitor, you can:
Click any event on the graph to view its details.
Click Days or Weeks to view the stability index over a specific period of time.
Click items in the Action column to view more information about each event.
Click View all problem reports to view only the problems that have occurred on your computer. This view doesn’t include the other computer events that show up in Reliability Monitor, such as events about software installation.
